What's in the free test

Most "free CELPIP practice" online is just a handful of reading questions. This one covers all four skills the way the real exam does — including the two skills people most need feedback on, writing and speaking, scored by our Gradient Engine.

📖

Reading

Correspondence and information passages with multiple-choice questions, just like Parts 1–2 of the real test.

🎧

Listening

Realistic Canadian AI voices for a daily conversation and a news item — replayable, then answer.

✍️

Writing

A genuine CELPIP email task. Type your answer and our Gradient Engine grades it against a CELPIP-style rubric.

🎙️

Speaking

Record a real speaking task. It's transcribed and graded, with specific feedback on what to fix.

How it works

  1. Click start — no sign-up, no email, nothing to install. It runs right in your browser.
  2. Work through the four skills in one sitting, under light time pressure so the format feels real.
  3. Submit at the end. Your writing and speaking are sent to our Gradient Engine; reading and listening are scored instantly.
  4. Get your estimated CLB level plus a professional score card and specific feedback on writing and speaking.

Because scoring writing and speaking has a real cost, the demo is one attempt per person — so give it your best effort. When you're ready for more, a free account unlocks unlimited reading and listening practice, and premium adds 20 full-length mock exams.

Why practise the full format (not just reading)

On test day, the format and timing surprise people more than the English does. Writing and speaking are where most test-takers lose points, precisely because they're the hardest to self-grade — you can't easily tell which grammar errors keep repeating or whether you actually covered every part of the task. Getting feedback from our Gradient Engine on those two skills is the fastest way to see where your band is really sitting.

How accurate is the score?

It's an estimate from a small sample, not an official CELPIP result. Our Gradient Engine, developed by AI engineers, grades writing and speaking against a CELPIP-style rubric, and the reading/listening estimate comes from a short question set. Think of it as an honest gut-check before you book the real exam — useful for spotting your weakest skill, not a guarantee of your official band. For how the levels map to immigration requirements, see the CELPIP score chart.
